BioGroup meets Erin Brockovich — the real environmental icon
Claudio Belloso, General Director of BioGroup, met Erin Brockovich at the International Symposium In Situ and On-Site Bioremediation in San Diego, California, where she was the keynote speaker.
After discussing groundwater remediation techniques, Erin shared behind-the-scenes stories of the three months Julia Roberts lived with her to prepare for her Oscar-winning role. Erin is the activist who won a landmark lawsuit against Pacific Gas & Electric for hexavalent chromium contamination — the same contaminant BioGroup specialises in remediating.

BioGroup and Celulosa Argentina S.A. toured the Pulp and Paper Plant to observe the Moving Bed Biofilm Process — the first paper mill in the world with this innovative system.

Framework Agreement with GWTT — Manhattan
After signing the Framework Collaboration Agreement with Ground/Water Treatment & Technology, BioGroup and GWTT President Robert Kunzel celebrated in Chelsea, Manhattan. BioGroup advises GWTT on bioaugmentation and biostimulation for major US remediation projects — including sites where the Twin Towers once stood.
R&D
New biofuel synthesised in BioGroup laboratories
In April 2013, BioGroup researchers and Hungarian Chemical Engineer János Thesz synthesised a novel biofuel from vegetable oils with 100% fuel yield — no glycerin by-product. The project attracted Expedito Parente Junior from Brazil, son of the engineer who registered the world's first biodiesel patent.
