Biogroup and Celulosa Argentina S.A. staff They visited the Pulp and Paper Plant that the IRVING company owns in Saint John, Canada. Invited by Eng. Jon Sointio, President of the firm New Technologies, LLC, with the purpose of seeing the operation of the innovative industrial effluent treatment system installed in the Company, called Moving Bed Biofilm Process, an innovative technology, the first paper mill in the world that has this system.
Engineers Heather Munn (Environmental Engineer) and Ashley Bland (Junior Process Engineer) along with Eng. Jason Smith, presented the new technology. This system is currently being used not only for paper mills but also for other types of industrial effluents.

Erin Brockovich & Claudio Belloso
Erin Brockovich with Claudio Belloso (General Director of Biogroup) at The International Symposium In Situ and On-Site Bioremediation held in San Diego, California. Erin was the Keynote Speaker for the event. After talking about various technical issues, Erin shared her experience with Julia Roberts, when Julia lived with her for over three months in order to play her in the film. For her participation in this film, Julia Robert received the Oscar for best actress.
Erin Brockovich is a film based on a true story about an environmental activist, employed in a law office, who managed to win an important lawsuit against Pacific Gas & Electric Company: a gas and electricity company that contaminated groundwater with hexavalent chromium. Hinkley, California.

Collaboration Framework Agreement
After the signing of the Framework Collaboration Agreement between Ground / Water Treatment & Technology and Biogroup, we went with Robert Kunzel, President of GWTT, to have dinner and listen to a Blues band in one of the most famous Chelsea pubs in western Manhattan.
Biogroup has been advising GWTT on issues related to the Remediation Projects that this company develops in the USA, more specifically in the field of bioaugmentation and biostimulation. GWTT has worked on very important remediation projects in the USA and Europe. GWTT has participated in projects as relevant as the remediation of soils contaminated with hydrocarbons where the Twin Towers were.

Biogroup at the USGS office in San Diego
Eric Reichard (Research Hydrologist Program Chief, Coastal Projects) showing interesting aspects of California hydrology at the USGS (United States Geological Survey) Water Resources Division office in San Diego, CA. Eric also took the opportunity to show us the cartography of California from a huge minute book, very particular, very special, since they have been completing it since the mid-nineteenth century. The wonderful thing about this minute book is that it is signed in the handwriting of every president of the United States from Abraham Lincoln on. It was a great emotion for us to be able to see the signature of all the American presidents.

Biogroup also participated, represented on this occasion by the Adviser of the Natural Resources Commission of the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, Dr. Claudio Belloso.

Conference by Dr. Claudio Belloso in Baltimore
Dr. Claudio Belloso giving a lecture within the framework of the "In Situ and On-Site Bioremediation Symposium" held in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. In this Symposium, the research work called "Nitrate Removal from Ground Water by In Situ Denitrification" was presented. The new technology presented consists of the underground reduction of nitrates through underground denitrification in situ, a product of the injection of soybean oil into the water table.

Quality Management System Certification
Biogroup receives the Certification of its Quality Management System that meets the requirements of the IRAM-ISO 9001:2015 Standard. Act held in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Dissertation in the U.S. Geological Survey
Dr. Claudio Belloso was invited to give a lecture at the U.S. Geological Survey, under the United States Department of the Interior. It was attended by the team of scientists who principally investigate most of California's watercourses and who carry out their main activity in the Water Resources Division. The conference covered the main aspects of Environmental Microbiology and its relationship with surface water courses.

New Synthesized Biofuel in Biogroup
During the month of April 2013, in the Biogroup laboratories, the design and synthesis of a new biofuel from vegetable oils was carried out. Biogroup researchers, together with Chemical Engineer János Thesz from Hungary, worked hard to obtain the biofuel and derivatives with very high added value. This biofuel has a very important comparative advantage over biodiesel. In the production of this new biofuel, glycerin is not obtained as a by-product, 100% fuel is obtained. During the research work carried out in Biogroup, we had the visit from Brazil, among other personalities, of the Chemical Engineer Expedito Parente Junior, son of the famous Engineer Expedito José de Sá Parente, who was the first in the world to register the first patent of biodiesel.

Biogroup at the International Environment Workshop
Biogroup participated with a stand at the 2nd International Workshop and 8th Regional Environmental Congress held during the month of October 2012 in the City of Rosario. On this occasion, Biogroup presented the new units to determine Air Quality, designed and built entirely by the Biogroup Technical Service advised by the Engineering Area. This new equipment meets all the requirements demanded by the EPA for the determination of pollutants in air. The stand was visited by a large number of academics, researchers, technicians, professionals from different disciplines and the general public.
